How Rich People Spend Their Money... Lesson One

So, conservatives (and others) say that rich people are good for the economy, because they spend their money like everybody else... and that creates jobs. After all, people have to work to satisfy the  needs of the rich. A rich person is just like a concentration of poor people in one body. Sure, rich people spend their money just like everybody else. :

It's thinking like this....

The Utner Reader reports on an article in Science News. That article says that where parents of kids felt they lived in "a dangerous neighborhood," the kids tended to be overweight. Parents who felt they lived in "a safe neighborhood" had kids closer to normal. The reason, according to the study, is that parents in "dangerous neighborhoods" kept their kids at home, where they ate a lot. The kids in safe neighboods went out to play, and therefore ate less.

Er... could it be that the kids in dangerous neighborhoods had poor diets, living off fast food and other lousy cheap food? Maybe safe parents can afford the salads and health foods that keep people thin? Naw, couldn't be that. CRIME is the criminal, not economics, right America?

You EXPECT Americans to be dumb... but SCIENCE NEWS? Come on!

Myths American Suckers Believe

This is from Mother Jones Magazine, I hope they won't object to me letting it have a slightly wider audience. It's one of the best I've read. (Note, to read, click on each page. Let me know if there's a problem.)

And here's the second page:

Pretty right, huh?

How the 1% spend their money

Ever wonder how the ONE PERCENT spend their money? I mean, if you've got a BILLION dollars, what are you gonna do with TWO BILLION dollars. Well, while Americans starve, and the Republicans and Democrats find ways to "trim the fat" from the Federal budget aiding poor people... lets see what those RICH GUYS are buying with the money they don't want to pay in taxes:

This from a liquor store catalog. In case you can't read it, that's $18,600 for a single bottle of whiskey.:
