Once in a Blue Moon

There've been very few times during the last 10 or so years that I thought there was anything of value in New York. The World Trade Center attacks made New York part of America. (We used to consider it a different country. They did too.) Guiliani brought in Starbucks, and the other horrible chains. The city became too expensive and way too safe. But every now and then I see something and think YES! NEW YORK... YES!

STALKERS R US: Along with fart machines and punk wigs...

I saw this in a novelty catalog. Along with the usual practical jokes was this "novelty." Perfect for calling up the old girlfriend and threatening her with some awful violence and torture. She'll never know where it came from!

It's a Free Country... Isn't It?

One out of every 100 Americans is in jail. One out of 39 are in jail, paroled or somehow in the criminal system. More African (Americans) are in jail than were slaves before the Civil War. And why does al qaeda hate us? They're jealous of our freedom!

Enjoy Your Chocolate?

I found this in the usually unreliable Epoch Times (an anti-Chinese newspaper published by the Fulan Gong). For some reason, though, this seems believable.

Want to Fly Cheap?

Sounds like good advice, fly on scary days. But look at the illustration. The end figure is clearly Halloween, the middle guy may be a Friday the 13ther but look at the guy at the back of the line? Is he supposed to represent September 11? Pretty bad taste, I'd say!
